Henna Boy Extra Red, 50ml bottle

Henna Extra Red is a 100% natural liquid extracted from the roots of the Rubia cordifolia (manjistha) plant. It is made and bottled by Henna Boy.

Add it to henna, henna and cassia, henna and indigo, or henna and katha mixes for a deeper, stronger and more vibrant red.

The 50ml bottle is our smallest size, ideal if you want to try Henna Extra Red for the first time, or if you have short hair.

Why use Henna Extra Red?

What is manjistha?

Manjistha, or Indian madder, has been used for centuries as a natural red dye for textiles. Its roots contain natural red pigments that boost the warm tones of henna.

Which mixes does it suit?

• Henna alone: a brighter, deeper red.
• Henna and cassia: richer copper and strawberry tones.
• Henna and indigo: a warmer auburn brown.
• Henna and katha: warmer brunette browns.

Because it is a liquid, it mixes evenly through the paste with no lumps.

How to use

1. Mix your henna powder, or henna blend, as usual.
2. Stir the extract into the paste along with your mixing liquid, following the instructions on the bottle.
3. Leave the paste for dye release, then apply to clean hair and rinse as normal.

Results depend on your natural colour and the mix you use, so always do a strand test first. It adds warmth, so it is best avoided if you want a cool brown or ash result.

Storage

Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dark place, and shake well before use.
