Black Natural Hair Dye

Natural black hair dye with henna and indigo

This black henna hair dye pack contains 100g of henna and 100g of indigo, the two plant dyes needed for natural black hair. Equal amounts of both are used, and full mixing and application instructions are included.

Do not use the indigo on its own unless you want a blue tone.

Unlike chemical dyes, this black henna hair dye contains no PPD, ammonia or peroxide. It is pure henna and pure indigo, nothing else.

One-step or two-step?

Two-step gives the deepest black: apply henna alone, rinse, then apply indigo on its own. This is the best method for grey hair.

One-step is quicker: mix the henna first and let it release its dye, then stir in freshly mixed indigo and apply together. This gives a soft black to very dark brown.

Before you start

• Wash your hair with a simple shampoo and no conditioner, so the dye can bind evenly.
• Wear gloves and protect your hairline with a little oil or balm to avoid staining the skin.
• Do a strand test on a few hairs from your hairbrush to check the shade before the full application.

How much do I need?

One 200g pack covers short, straight hair. For curly hair, measure its length when straightened. Multi packs are available for longer hair.

How long does it last?

Because it is 100% natural and chemical-free, the colour fades more gradually than synthetic dyes. How long it lasts depends on your hair and how you care for it.

Aftercare

Rinse with water only and avoid shampoo for 2 to 3 days. The black can look slightly blue at first and settles over the first few days. Touch up the roots as needed, as both henna and indigo build with each application, so each black henna hair dye session deepens the result.
