Jagua Body Art: The Natural Blue-Black Alternative to Black Henna
Want a dark, tattoo-like design without the dangers of black henna? Jagua comes from the Genipa americana fruit and gives a natural blue-black stain. Here is where it…
Jagua paste cones: a creamy jagua paste that flows like henna, in fresh 10ml cones. Easier to apply than gel.
Our jagua paste cones hold a jagua paste specially formulated for a smoother, creamier consistency that closely resembles traditional henna paste. Unlike standard jagua gel, which can be stringy, it flows evenly for precise, intricate designs.
It gives a rich, deep blue-black stain that lasts for days. Suitable for beginners and professional artists. The paste is strained through a fine cloth before packaging. Freeze until needed.
Jagua works differently from henna. The design looks faint at first, then darkens to blue-black over 48 to 72 hours, and usually lasts one to two weeks. As with any skin product, do a small patch test first.
Keep jagua paste cones in the freezer until needed. Once thawed, store them in the fridge and use within a few days. Avoid thawing and refreezing the same cone repeatedly, as this weakens the stain.
Jagua stains are not instant: the colour builds over 48 to 72 hours, so apply designs two to three days before an event. Do not mix jagua with lemon juice, which can weaken the result.
Many artists keep both our jagua paste cones and gel cones, using paste for detail and gel for bold work.
Jagua powder, water, lavender essential oil, gelling agent.
