Pinda oil: traditional Ayurvedic massage oil

Pinda oil (pinda thailam) is a traditional Ayurvedic oil made from 14 different herbs and oils. It makes a warming massage oil, and is a relaxing choice after exercise or a long day on your feet.

For external use only.

Like many traditional Ayurvedic oils, it combines herbs, roots and grains with castor oil and purified butter, following a classical recipe.

How to use pinda oil

  1. Warm a small amount of oil in your hands, or stand the bottle in warm water for a few minutes.
  2. Massage gently into the area using slow, circular movements.
  3. Leave the oil on the skin to absorb, or wipe away any excess with a warm towel.

When to use it

  • After exercise, sport or a long walk.
  • At the end of a long day on your feet.
  • As part of a relaxing evening massage routine.

It can be used daily. Many people prefer to apply it in the evening, so the oil has time to absorb overnight.

A gentle massage with pinda oil makes a relaxing end to the day or a pleasant routine after sport.

Good to know

  • Do a patch test first on a small area of skin.
  • Do not apply to broken or irritated skin.
  • Keep away from the eyes, and wash your hands after use.
  • The oil can mark clothing and towels, so use an old towel.
  • Contains purified butter, so it is not suitable for vegans.

Storage

Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dark place. In cold weather the oil may thicken slightly; warm it gently before use.
